28 March 2009 Barely recovered from my red-eyed flight from London to Dubailand, I’m already whisked away to the Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge in the early Friday afternoon. As we join the local socialites and polo lovers on the picture-perfect lawns of Desert Palm Hotel, there’s a buzz of paparazzi surrounding us. Only then I realise that the brunette in dark purple top, white trousers and a big white hat is indeed actress Monica Bellucci. Moments later I spot another familiar face, the Slumdog Millionaire star Anil Kapoor dressed casually in black jeans and hiking boots. Both are in town for Cartier’s world’s largest flagship store opening in Dubai Mall on Thursday. I also get my celeb moment when Dubai OK! Photographs moi and my sister. Foremost a social event warming up to the Dubai World Cup on Saturday, the lovers of the sport come second. Keen horsewoman myself, I follow the match enough to know what’s what and who’s scoring.
