Racing Queen

The racing season is in full swing – Dubai World Cup is taking place this weekend. Striking prints, bold colors, sheer volume and oversized details like frills and bows are perfect for making a bold statement at the races. If you want to make sure no one else is showing up in the same dress, opt for harder to find designers like Isaac Mizrahi and Roksanda Ilincic.

Shoe-wise, you might want to stay away from thin stiletto heels if you are planning to step onto the grass – sandy heel caps are not a pretty sight ...

TREND WATCH: Bouquet of Flowers

Designers have gone all gaga for dainty flower field prints – even the glam king Roberto Cavalli. There’s something for everyone, from bouquets of tea roses, daisies, azaleas, hibiscus and orchids to bold Van Gogh imitations. What a great excuse to have a garden party!

TREND WATCH: Block Colors

Block colors and geometric shapes were all over the catwalks from Chloe and Diane von Furstenberg to Calvin Klein. A multi-colored dress has great statement power and doesn’t need much accessorizing. Use two or three-tone shoes and handbags to spice up your summer whites.

Osman Yousefzada for Mango

Yesterday I was invited to view Osman Yousefzada’s first designer collaboration with Mango at the exclusive launch in department store Selfridges. What a better way to start the day than a cup of a fresh coffee and a croissant while eyeing on new fashion arrivals. ‘I’m very excited about the collaboration with Mango, it’s a great opportunity to express my vision to a wider audience. And the little black dress is a staple and a must have for every woman’s wardrobe’, Osman said.

Gallery Affair

Frieze, Arco, Maco, Art Dubai – gallery openings and art exhibitions left, right and centre – so it’s easy to get dizzy about what to wear. Whatever you do, keep the outfit simple and then step up your game with accessories. Busy prints will only disturb your concentration to the artworks around you and someone might even mistake you for a painting if you stand still for too long!

Arty Mood

Dramatic abstract paint strokes, splashes, swirls, watercolors, graffiti and artwork imitations were all over the fabrics at Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Lacroix, Chloé and Basso & Brooke. It was as if the designers had unleashed their inner artist and started to experiment with different brush strokes on a canvas.
There was Dolce & Gabbana’s tribute to Julian Schnabel’s highly energetic, almost manic brush strokes and flower buds. UK designer duo Basso & Brooke were inspired by Fiona Rae’s handiwork of swirls and use of bright colors.

Romancing Ruffles

Dresses and tops are all ruffled up like birds' feathers this spring. What a perfect way to update your dark basics with a blush or pastel silk top covered in romantic, feathery, rose petal-like or scalloped ruffles.

Date with Cupid

He's booked a romantic candle-lit dinner, but you are having a wardrobe dilemma. You want to look womanly without going over-board sultry.

We love this cute Rachel Roy strapless dress teamed with the masculine Stella McCartney blazer for a modern look. If you’re not into red, a fail-safe option is a LBD jazzed up with a Cupid-Red clutch or pair of heels. Don’t forget to dab some love potion behind your ears that will take his breath away.

Love is in the air!

New Classics

Spring is still a long way away, but it’s time to revive the wardrobe with something new. An updated version of the classic Burberry trench, a crispy white shirt for work or a versatile dress that will take you from day to evening.

TREND WATCH: Dye Effect

Get a head start with a hot new summer trend of tie-dye, dip-dye and multi-color graded fabrics. Seen on the runway from Diane von Furstenberg and DKNY, to Afshin Feiz, this trend taps into the Californian 70s hippy mode with a hint of Halston sophistication.
We are loving the black and navy tie-dye top from Stella McCartney amongst the sale markdowns.
