Art Paris- Abu Dhabi

It might be the credit crunch but Abu Dhabi is still having its dance music festival and more importantly...Art Paris - Abu Dhabi, the biggest art event in the emirate.
We've even heard Canvas magazine is flying 100 people first class to the UAE, in order not to miss it.

Launched last year by a series of Paris galleries, curious to explore new markets, the fair has expanded this year to new heights, with no less than 57 galleries from 22 countries. There's also a series of side happenings, truly worth checking out, which we've listed for you.

The Party Embassy

So what's the verdict? A few months into business, our Abu Dhabi reporter rates Embassy,  the city's latest club.

It’s been a few months and Embassy is still the club to go to in Abu Dhabi…a feat by any means! Still the latest addition to a struggling nightlife scene, Embassy has injected much needed oomph into the capital.

And in a grateful show of appreciation, Embassy is packed with clubbers weekend in and weekend out. Even a Wednesday night proved to be a rockin’ night out last week, with British Indian star Jay Sean belting out “Ride It” and new single “Maybe” to a crammed nightclub.

Picasso Says Hello

Picasso in Abu Dhabi…four words I never thought I'd hear. Having grown up on this little island filled with great memories, but –let's face it- devoid of any cultural heart, those four words filled my artsy-soul with a strange excitement.

183 works by Picasso now grace the Emirates Palace with their often imposing and breathtaking presence, and will do so until September 4, 2008 (so there's really no excuse for not visiting the exhibition!)

In its effort to position itself as the "cultural hub" of the region, Abu Dhabi has upped the ante with all kinds of cultural events, and the Picasso exhibition, featuring masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso in Paris, is the latest high-caliber event to solidify the capital's growing reputation.
