Easy CSR.....

Rasha December 6th 2008

In our "modern" life, it seems hard to stop and take time out to really get involved in social issues and support change. Companies began by implementing programs of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to help integrate social awareness and change into the work environment.

Zaha Hadid is everywhere and nowhere less than London. Tonight is the opening party at the historic Home House in London for the celebrations of the new Zaha Hadid designed wing and she's designed our favourite part, the bar. Home House will be the platform for the launch of her latest footwear collection in collaboration with iconic, preppy brand Lacoste.

Architect Zaha Hadid’s super high tech space-esque bar and lounge 'raises the bar' in home design.

Made in England

Tala Tayara October 27th 2008

I watched a fabulous programme on the BBC a few days ago called BRITISH STYLE GENIUS; taking you through the iconic moments of fashion change in England and what and who brought about the way we view and wear fashion in this country. The fashion rebels of Vivienne Westwood with her punk rock, pirate collections, John Galliano who changed the face (and profits) of Dior and Mr. Alexander Mcqueen, the black sheep of the fashion industry and the guy who went from elegant Givenchy to his own infamous eponymous label; he who dares, wins was the mantra of this show.

Lately, I find myself more and more engaged in world music. In London, for example, I often go to a bar on Tuesday nights to listen to bands/singers/groups from all over the world. Last week, I attended the launch of a young Senegalese singer, Carlou D, whose sounds and words (those that were translated, of course!) moved me.

We Like Pink!

Tala Tayara October 17th 2008

Pink everywhere! Breast Cancer Awareness month is in full swing and we support it big time. Pink fashion, pink ribbons, pink champagne, pink diamonds; we like them all but i wanted to tell you about a special kind of pink that we are waving the flag for this month.

SuBerStar!

I love to listen to music while I work and am always looking for new links to online radio stations, streamed songs selections etc...recently, we have been quite boring and have been downloading capital radio fm (the "top of the pops" in London) and everyday we hear Nickelback's really popular over played song, Rockstar.

So yesterday, a friend of mine sent me an email with a "modernized" version of this summer classic....in ARABIC. Definitely worth a listen!

A Glass and a Half Full Production

I don't have much to say other than - I LOVE THIS AD! Have you seen it? It's brilliant!

It has become quite a phenomenon in the UK and for those lucky ones with Sky TV. The iconic 80's music is pure bliss and the ugly beauty of the gorilla lost in his senses is mesmerizing; beautiful and totally kitsch.

Dubai Loves Designer Hotels!

carole September 25th 2008
What is it with designer hotels in Dubai. Ever since Armani said he was building a hotel there, designers have rushed on the emirate. Today, Elie Saab, Ferragamo, and Versace are all building hotels or luxury condos in Dubai. Has Dubai became an incubator for a more global trend, we might see being developed in the rest of the world? Or have we become so enamored with designer brands, that we also need our hotel room to be branded?

Fancy a Snog

Tala Tayara September 10th 2008

Last night I had my first "snog" and I loved it. Snog is London's first frozen yogurt; with a hot location in south ken, a cool interior designed by Cinimod and a product that lacks fat, shuns sugar and has hardly any calories. They make it very hard for a girl to be bad.

Snog is the british word for 'kiss' - so really the owners have hit on a brand identity thats fun, flirtatious and a real talking point; the shop is full of: '...fancy a snog?',  'how many snogs are you after?', 'i like snogging better than ice cream'; Yup, its fun in there.
