The Boho Chic Thobe

carole August 31st 2008

The girls at Jasmine Box in Jeddah have created a set of boho thobes just in time for Ramadan. Frankly, I think they would do great for a party in Tangiers or a late summer weekend in Mykonos or Ibiza....

Faye Behbehani and Sara Mckinnon have paired up different fabrics to create a pretty unique limited collection (why is everyting limited these days?). What I love is that they mixed various fabrics from Uzbekistan with local Hijazi Shalky fabrics, to create modern boho chic outfits. The bright and colourful styles consisting mostly of cottons and sheer light fabrics are a nod to "the Arabian sunshine and warm Ramadan evenings."
No two thobes are alike as each one has its own signature, be that a checkered fabric or an old antique belt re-worked for a contemporary feel.  The thobes are sold exclusively at the annual bazaar (basaat il reeh) held in Jeddah in Ramadan on a first come first serve basis.
So if you're in Saudi for Ramdan, head right there!

Don't get me wrong, i love the patterns and the colors, but i'm so over the boho-chic ethnic wave scene ... cool website though, check it out!

Samar hang on for Dolly's new collection in the Global Souk - still a new twist on the kaftan but less boho and more chic - do you like them?

Also i know that Asudari is also going to be launching her ABAYAS in the Global Souk- theyre amazing - traditional styles with cutting edge tailoring.

Thanks Dina - yes ur right! We have now launched Dolly's new Ramadan collection of beautiful, feminine thobes - Search for Dolly under the designers section of the Global Souk and see for yourself - Samar, what do you think? Do you like them?
