On Friday October 30th 2009, BurJuman once again hosted the 6th annual Pink Walkathon, a 3.6 kilometer charity walk. Now a regular event in the UAE’s calendar, BurJuman called upon all members of the public – men, women and children – to help support this very worthy cause, aimed at raising funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
This year’s Walkathon included a wide range of activities complete with musical entertainment throughout the duration of the walk, face painting, balloon benders and other fun activities. Following the walk, all participants enjoyed a delicious Jazz breakfast and a host of in-mall activities for the entire family including the fabulous pink bazaar featuring pink-themed tables selling various goodies such as handicrafts, jewelry, paintings, hand-embroidered linen, gifts and collectibles, plus many more items at reasonable prices. All proceeds from the Pink Walkathon are monitored by Red Crescent and will be used to generate awareness and education within the community and support patient care.
Part of Burjuman’s campaign also included a Breast Cancer Survivors Fashion Show which was held on October 23rd and feature breast cancer survivors who took to the runway to celebrate their triumph over the disease. Studio 8, a leading boutique in Dubai provided the clothes along with leading in-mall retailers.
